You remember those days when you could tell people that you liked music you weren't "supposed" to like? You know, like telling your friends that Wham is the group. (Well, at least the friends in school – I don't know about bringing that back to the block). Seems like more and more I feel that I have to admit my musical preferences. Like I can't just like a song because it's good. Yes, I was the only person I knew who bought Vanilla Ice's album. Yes, I think Milli Vanilli made a serious jam in "Blame It On The Rain." And, no I was not afraid to play and sing the words to The Jets' "Crush On You" last Saturday!
That being said, (King Tut, you there?) I'm feeling Justin Timberlake's album. There, I said it. And, without the normal preface ("Aiight, I know you might think I'm bugging, but..."). Say what you want, I ain't scared...
So, it's December. What's new in your world? I've started with a new promotion at a spot called Pfiff. Loving it because the promoters have said to me, "Just do you – but, I want to hear the 80's." How can I not be happy? Last weekend was the second event. Bananas. Seriously – this is not some promotional ploy to fill the space. Believe me, it's tiny – filling it is not really an issue. I've just been able to get back to that feeling in music, in parties, when stuff was just fun. The recipe changes every week, but a sprinkle of Dana Dane and a pinch of Fine Young Cannibals never hurt anyone – especially when combined with healthy doses of MJ, Super Cat, and Stevie. I highly recommend this one.
Anyway, hope everyone is doing well. Happy birthday to Niki, Melissa, and all of my December heads. Please reach out if you are looking for a place to celebrate... I will update you as soon as a New Year's venue is set. And, oh - don't think I forgot the godfather update! My man Jalen is still doing his thing. He's teething now, so he'll soon add some pearly whites to that killer smile. This kid is going to be a star...
