Thanks for checking in, as always. Turns out this is an anniversary of sorts. Yep, been writing the Current News for one full year now (check the Words page for previous statements). Who knew! Don't really have anything too special planned for this one, but if you have some suggestions, send them my way... Fresh off of Halloween - gotta say there were some real serious get-ups in there. Jalen was the Cat in the Hat, but I didn't get to see him (side note: he called and sang the alphabet on my machine - so cute). I hope to have GO photos up shortly (although I wasn't able to get my man who was dressed like Erik Estrada from C.H.I.P.S. - gangsta!). Everything is cool in my camp, just continuing the guest spots until I take on a new residency. Hoping for big things soon... Only a few birthday shouts this month after the crazy October: Baby bro (Big Fees), Shor-T (congrats on the wedding, y'all!), Mr. Moviecharles himself, C-Black, and D. Greene - happy birthday! Look me up... - The Artist (Vincent Van Vader) "The NBA Needs V" There has been a lot of noise directed my way by folks who check in on the site regularly: "Where is the new statement? What's taking you so long these days?" Two words: League Pass. Anyone who knows me knows that once the bats are put away and the high tops get laced, things get a little more serious in my household; especially this season. With LeBron James and Carmello Anthony entering the league, there is simply too much to watch. What does this have to do with djing? Well, not much... at first. But, then I realized that as 'fantastic' as the NBA is (sans the Knickersuckers), it's missing something: Me. Nope, not on the floor - my competitive days are over (although I do think I could be the fifth man on the Lakers and they would still win a championship). Besides, I never played on that level - although, I would definitely take Jeff Van (Vader) Gundy to school. No, commissioner David Stern needs to name Van Vader the Official DJ of the NBA. Here are reasons why the league needs me: - I have a wealth of experience in crowd motivation. If I played the Garden, I might actually give the fans something to cheer about. - I would spin all of the player's birthday parties - from NY to South Beach to LA, even to Utah (maybe not Utah). This will be one less thing to plan and worry about for the players, giving them more time to practice free throws. - Marketing me would be easy. I can see the Radio Shack/Shaq commercials now: "The NVA - I love this game!" - The NBA's Read to Achieve program. C'mon now... if that doesn't have me written all over it? - A compilation CD. I know it takes me forever to make one, but if that were my job?? Done. - Mark Madsen. - Who else would be honest with the Jason Kidd's, Kobe Bryant's, and Cedric Ceballos' of the world and tell them: don't ever try to rap again. - I'll arrange for Jalen to dance at half times. What more can you ask for? David, give me a call when you read this. Don't sleep - this could be monumental... |
